My Surprise Salvia Trip: A Close Call, A Saviour Entity and a Convergence of Realities

Trippy Forest Salvia.jpg

Note from DMT Times: Although we only usually publish DMT and ayahuasca experiences, this one is particularly fascinating and may highlight something important about the nature of entity experiences. There are undoubtedly parallels that can be drawn between psychedelic experiences, and this is no exception. We hope you enjoy this trip report!

I want to start by saying that at the time I had this experience, I had no awareness whatsoever of other realms. I knew nothing of spirituality or entities, and had no interest in the subjects. I didn’t know anyone else who did either.

It was the middle of the afternoon. I was with two friends at one of their houses, and we were completely sober. We were thinking about what to do with the afternoon, and then remembered that we had a bit of legal high weed left in a drawer that we’d got from a head shop. We had already smoked pretty much the whole bag on another occasion, and all we’d got from it was a thirty-minute weed-type high that eventually faded out uneventfully. Therefore, that’s all we were expecting.

All that was left in the bottom of the bag was crumbs and crystallised bits of this stuff, so we all decided to have a bong each. I gave one friend a bong, and then the other. Results were as anticipated for both. So I threw what was left in the bag into a bong for myself.

I embarked on a very unexpected journey into another reality

To paint the scene, I was sat on a dining room chair at the table in my friend’s kitchen, with my back to the kitchen. My friends were sat on the other side of the table with their backs to the wall. I took a big, long hit of the bong, and instantly, I started feeling strange; a feeling I didn’t recognise from the previous sessions at all.

I started feeling a really weird, intense feeling sensation sweeping through my entire being. My vision started fading out as nausea simultaneously crept in. I remember thinking, it’s taking me… it’s taking me! I immediately decided to try and remain calm and just ride it out… but all of a sudden my external vision completely went. I felt as if I was falling backwards, and all I could see was what seemed to be reality splitting into frames – like freeze frames - that appeared to made of orange slices of light. As each frame ‘landed’ in front of me, it was systematically shunting me backwards out of this reality.

At this point, I lost all concept of time. I was still feeling nauseous and had an overwhelming feeling of being on some kind of rollercoaster, with flashing lights and images flickering in front of me. I can’t fully recall what those images were, but it seemed like I was traveling through some kind of tunnel, or portal and there were wheels and cogs around me.  These seemed to be coming at me in a menacing way.

I traveled though a portal to a Dali-esque forest

Before long everything started to settle and found myself inside a totally new environment - somewhere much more calming. The best way I can describe this environment is as a Dali-esque forest. Everything was green and there were huge, tall tress, but everything in this distorted forest was melting; trees would spring up but then start to drip downwards, and one thing seemed to melt into another constantly.

I was lying on the floor of the forest looking up at the trees, and I noticed something else; something like a light, or a motion… as it loomed into focus, this light seemed to be moving around me at high speed and in a circular fashion. After some time this whirling light started to slow and take another form. It became some kind of feminine entity, and I felt her presence strongly.

I couldn’t see her features clearly but had the sense that she was blonde, and somehow reminded me of a nature spirit. She lay down next to me and I felt safe in her presence. Although she wasn’t speaking to me there was some kind of telepathic communication going on.

The entity guided me to follow her actions

I don’t think I realised that this wasn’t my normal reality – I was existing here without consciously analysing it, and everything I did felt automatic, based on instinct. I knew that this entity required me to copy her actions, so when she sat up, I did the same. She walked over to a tree and grabbed hold of it, encircling the trunk with her arms. She was clinging to the tree very tightly, so I followed her and wrapped my arms around the tree next to hers and held onto it tightly. I was watching her intently the whole time, waiting to see what she would do next.

All of a sudden, a huge ice sculpture appeared out of the ground next to me. It happened so quickly that it made me jump in fright, so I looked over at her and saw that she was letting me know it was OK. She made me feel like I should be at ease with this crazy ice sculpture, and then I realised that she wanted me to drink from it. So I grabbed a piece of it and drank the water from it. I was sat clinging to this tree with the ice in my hand, and it seemed that I was there for a very long period of time.

The next thing I knew, reality started to change again – everything was moving and morphing, dripping and melting, just as the scene had when I had arrived. I then found myself lying on the floor once again, and she was sat next to me, holding my hand. I think I must have been on my way back to normal consciousness at this point, because I remember telling myself, it’ll be over soon… I was more aware that something had happened, and that none of this was normal.

I was existing in two realities at the same time

Now my vision was starting to return to some extent, but it was like I was existing in two realities at the same time. I could see the kitchen, but it was merged with the oozing forest. Then the forest floor started to turn into the kitchen floor, and the trees became the walls… this happened seamlessly over a period of a couple of minutes, but the entity was still with me. She stood up and let go of my hand, and I recall worrying about where she was going – I didn’t feel ready for her to leave me.

The room was almost completely back to the kitchen again, but I could still see her – she wasn’t completely solid, more like made of smoke… and she was walking toward the door. As she got to the door and slipped through it, the exact same moment, two paramedics walked into the kitchen. This coincided with me returning completely to this reality.

The 3D version of events

While my consciousness had been completely immersed in a different reality, it transpired that my body had been on a parallel journey back here in the physical, and I knew nothing about it. My friends described this journey as soon as I was able to have a conversation again.

Immediately after I had taken a hit from the bong, I fell back off my chair onto the kitchen floor. They said my expression was completely frozen: eyes and mouth wide open. Seconds later I started fitting. Apparently I was foaming at the mouth while fitting, but fortunately one of my friends was trained in first aid and knew what to do. He had got underneath me and held my head so that I wasn’t banging it against the floor.

When the fitting calmed, they helped me to sit up and guided me to hold onto the leg of the kitchen table, which they knew would keep me upright. My other friend then brought over a glass of water and was trying to get me to drink it, which I did. I had signalled that I wanted  to lie back down again, so they allowed me to lay on the floor and put a pillow under my head. They said I just lay there hyperventilating for some time, while they tried to keep me calm. They had called the paramedics at some point and were waiting for them to arrive.

I had no idea who I or anyone else was

When the paramedics arrived, I wasn’t exactly with it yet. They were doing tests on me, but I had literally no idea who or where I was at all. I didn’t know who my friends were, nor how I had got into that kitchen – never mind that state. The only thing that I actually knew was that I wasn’t in any danger. I got up and went to the toilet, and I was frantically trying to figure out what was going on. When I came out of the toilet, I said to my friends, “I know this is going to sound weird, but who the fuck are you?”

The paramedics looked confused and my friends had to explain that they did actually know me. I was taken to the hospital, and it was only a few hours later that my memory returned. I then realised who I was, who my friends were and how I had got into the situation. This is when it was explained to me what had happened after I hit the bong, and their blow-by-blow account made me realise several things.

The nature spirit entity who had been with me was looking after me in that realm, and helping me to do what was necessary to survive back in the physical. The table leg was the tree she wanted me to hold onto, and the ice sculpture was the water she wanted me to drink. She was walking me through the experience to guide me to safety; when the paramedics were about to arrive, she slipped away and left me in their care.

Where’s that girl gone?

I’m convinced that whether she was some kind of entity, guardian angel or whatever, she was there to take care of me and get me safely through that experience. I clearly was in trouble, and she was making sure that I responded to my friends’ cues in the physical by showing me what to do in the other realm. I’m told that as I was coming around, I was asking them over and over, “Where’s that girl gone?

We later found out that what I had actually smoked was salvia. I didn’t even know what salvia was before that, and we thought we had bought just legal high weed. It came from a head shop in a bag that just said “plant food” on it. All we had been told when we bought it was that ‘it gets a bit trippy but it’s just like weed’. Since we had smoked the whole bag without anything trippy happening, we just assumed it wasn’t a great product. It eventually become obvious that it was actually extracted salvia crystals in the bottom of that bag.

Having never done any psychedelics before then, this experience certainly opened my mind to wider possibilities. If one good thing came out of it, it was that I feel the entity that guided me has not left me. I sense her protective energy around me sometimes and have the strong feeling that she is there.

I feel that during the first part of that trip, I may have been under attack from something malevolent, which would have been when I was fitting. I got the sense that maybe she stepped in and took me through a portal to somewhere safe. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me, anyway. Now, whenever I go on shamanic drum journeys, I seem to end up in a similar forest – but a non-trippy version.
